Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, stripping off every unnecessary weight and the sin which so easily and cleverly entangles us, let us run with endurance and active persistence the race that is set before us...
(Hebrews 12:1-2)

HEBREWS 12:5

“My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord,
Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him;
For whom the Lord loves He chastens,
And scourges every son whom He receives.”

You must submit to discipline; God is dealing with you as with sons... For our earthly fathers disciplined us for only a short time; but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness.

(Hebrews 12:6-11)
"And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me."

— Matthew 10:38-39

"Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering."

— Colossians 3:12

"If any of you want to be my followers, you must forget about yourself. You must take up your cross every day and follow me."

— Luke 9:23
